2nd Annual Spencer C Duncan Make It Count 5K- August 3, 2013
The Make It Count 5K event is the major fundraising effort of the Spencer C. Duncan Make It Count Foundation, LLC. The foundation has applied for and will receive 501(c)(3) status this year as a not for profit organization, registered in the State of Kansas.
Thank you to everyone who helped make our first annual Spencer C. Duncan Make It Count 5K a success! Through generous sponsorships and donations, more than $20,000 has been provided through the Make It Count Project Fund to support the efforts of ‘Heart of America Stand Down’ http://www.kcstanddown.org/, and the development of multiple book scholarships for student veterans at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas.
The second annual Make It Count 5K run/walk will be held August 3, 2013 at the New Century Air Center in Gardner, Kansas. Preparations are underway for a memorable, family-friendly event. Highlights will include a number of military displays, including Chinook helicopters, and local military units running in formation. The route will be fully accessible, and wounded warriors as well as other disabled individuals are encouraged to participate. All veterans must register but will be allowed to run/walk at no charge.
The run will start and finish at the U.S. Army Reserve hangar at New Century Air Center. Ample parking will be available with shuttles provided. This event will be directed by The Kansas City Track Club and will be sanctioned by USATF. Medals will be awarded for the top finishers in each age group, and honorary dog tags will be provided to each participant. There will also be a raffle of donated prizes.
Registration on this website will be available 3/15 and will remain open until 11:59 pm on Wednesday, July 31. Same day registration will also be available at the event. You will not want to miss this event! Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 3, and we will see you there as we all MAKE IT COUNT!
Thanks again from all of us at the Spencer C. Duncan Make It Count Project!
